2017 Brisbane City2South run
A run organised as a work team, is always a good one to bring the colleagues together.
I was in the 'General' category due to not having raced it before with not qualify time. I was ok with that. Starting on George St, the elite runners started, then the faster wave - then us. The first 2 km was a tad frustrating with the corners and a wide birth of walkers up front, but by the time of the Go Between Bridge - about 2km into it - it was free flowing.
Along Coronation Drive was a novel experience - never having run along it before actually on the road, but it seemed to go fairly fast, around University of Queensland - shame about the extra up and back, but then over the Green Bridge and then up Highgate Hill. An old favourite and managed to gain a fair few places by running up, and then finally a fast return back to the finish line which was all down hill - albeit on bitumen.
A solid crowd cheering the finishers, is always good fun.
Nutrition: Arbonne Hydration pre race, a salt tablet and then every 5km another salt tablet. Trying to keep my sodium up. Felt good at then end - but happy to finish at 14km. Probably needed more nutrition if I was going to do more.
All in all a good event, and a good one to get some road speed up on a 'race' type event.
