2018 Bridge to Brisbane

I wanted to take it relatively easy given I have a 50km trail run (Coastal High 50), that is the following week, but I probably wouldn't have done this unless it was for the amazing charity Red Kite and having run as a corporate team leader for the SAP team (plus I organised breakfast afterwards). So having woken up on the morning at 5.30am for a 6.30am start, and realise it was raining, I decided to drive to Coronation drive and run into the start line (plus I had to leave relatively early to get to another gig, so the car was close by the finish).
I made it to the start line in time for the green group (I was officially a yellow), but I couldn't start later (and waiting longer in the rain) and given the yellow group was 60+ min joggers, I didn't want to be caught up with them.

The course was great again, and even though it was raining pre-race it didn't rain on the course, which is bit of a shame because I love running in the rain as well. I felt strong the whole way and managed a 48 minute (my watch said 9.9km) and I was happy with that.
Having completed the NY marathon the year before, and this being my first road run since, It was an absolute contrast in events. It is estimated NY had 2 million spectators (in the rain too) and Brisbane was lucky to have 200. It would be great if this could be transformed somehow...

Reaching the finish line, always encouraged to hear the Jonathan Fogarty on the microphone, and as an added bonus he gave me some time on the mic. Always happy to shout out to out great charity that we work with, Redkite, especially Tara who made the process all very easy for us.

Finished with a yummo breakfast at Barbossa and then ran home from there.
